At the heart of the Île de la Cité , the flowers market (also called flowers and birds market) is a nice green area set up there for 2 centuries. Since then, Parisians and tourists meet daily under the 1900’s metal pavilions 1900s to enjoy pleasant scent of flowers.

A perfumed break in the heart of the Île de la Cité

Located on the Seine’s edge, the flower market has been existing since 1808. Although you can find other flower markets in Paris (Place des Ternes and Place de la Madeleine), the market of the Île de la Cité is the only one to have kept such a wide selection of flowers and plants.

You will also find many rare plants, shrubs, and several varieties of flowers, unusual or common.

As for the beautiful metallic pavilions, which architecture are not without reminding us some of the most beautiful Covered Passages in Paris, they give to the market a bucolic atmosphere. More than a market, it is a pleasant pefumed stroll you will discover.

A bird market on Sundays

On Sunday , flower market becomes a bird market. You will find everything you need if you want to buy a bird, or can simply enjoy the show offered by the animals and accessories sold .

After the market, continue your discoveries of Paris. And points of interest are not lacking around the Ile de la Cité ! For ideas of visits, see the City Hall or a walking tour in the Marais.
